Three Day Plein Air Workshop with Jessica Schiffman

Paint under the pines in beautiful Idyllwild, while you breathe fresh air and listen to the birdies sing. Accomplished landscape painter Jessica Schiffman will teach you her step-by-step method and help you capture rapidly changing light and shadows. You will learn about contrast, perspective, color theory, how to simplify and organize shapes, control paint, and more.

This is an oil painting class, but acrylics are acceptable. A materials list will be emailed to you. Snacks and water will be provided but students should bring lunch. All levels are welcome, but some painting experience is advisable.

The first session will meet Friday morning at the Higher Grounds Gallery in the Village Center Shopping Center at the corner of North Circle and Village Center Lane. After a brief introduction we will drive to our morning painting destination (location TBA). Midday to early afternoon we will gather at the shady deck of the Fern Valley Emporium to work on our paintings and eat lunch. Jessica will do a demo painting. When the sunlight and shadows get more interesting around 3:30, we will move on to our late afternoon painting location.

The workshop will be Friday August 18 through Sunday August 20. Cost, $250 for three days or $90 for individual days. Art Alliance member discount: $190  for three days, or $70 for individual days. To register, call or email Jessica Schiffman, 951-212-3783jscaschiffman@gmail.com
